How do I secure my wedding date?
To secure the date, you need to make a booking and pay a deposit. On receipt of your booking, we will email a confirmation and an invoice for the deposit of £120, which is non-refundable and non-transferable. If we have not received the deposit within one week, we will release the date and another booking may be taken.
If you have not yet made a booking but have scheduled a consultation, we will provisionally reserve your wedding date. If we subsequently receive a request for the same date, we will notify you and give you two weeks to make a booking.
Do you offer consultations?
Once you have made the booking, we will arrange a free face-to-face appointment to sample cake flavours and discuss the details of your requirements. If you are unable to attend in person, we will send a box of cake samples by post followed by a telephone appointment.
Before making a booking, we also offer a face-to-face consultation (or telephone appointment with cakes samples by post) for a small charge of £25. This is payable when you schedule the appointment. This is non-refundable if cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice because we will have already taken the time to prepare cake samples and research design ideas. This will then be refunded off your deposit should you go ahead and book your cake with us.
What cakes will I taste at the consultation?
We will prepare an interesting variety of cake flavours and buttercreams, designed for two people. We cannot take requests for specific cake flavours, but typically this will include some of the following: Devil’s Food Chocolate, Lemon Zest, White Chocolate & Raspberry and Vanilla Bean. Please inform us of any specific dietary requirements or allergies when booking your consultation and we will, of course, accommodate these when preparing the samples. Please see below for further information about allergies and dietary requirements.
Can I change my mind about the cake flavours or design?
Following the consultation, we will send out at least one sketch of your cake design, a list of the cake flavours that you have chosen and a quotation for the design(s). Please let us know immediately if you would like to make any changes to this. We are happy to make alterations to the design and flavours of your wedding cake up to one month before the date of your wedding. Additional changes may be subject to further charges should they vary from the design(s) agreed.
Do you make a separate charge for delivery and set-up?
We make no charge for delivery within a 40 mile radius for all cakes over £250. Delivery to venues outside this area are subject to a charge of £1 per mile and those over an hour away are charged at £10 per hour to cover our time. It is your responsibility to provide us with the correct delivery address. Please contact us to discuss delivery charges for smaller cakes.
We do not charge to set-up the cake at the venue. Once the cake has been delivered and set-up, we do not take responsibility for any damage that may occur to the cake at the wedding venue.
Can I collect my order?
We always prefer to set up wedding cakes at the venue ourselves but if this is not possible, you can arrange to collect your cake. We do not take responsibility for any damage to your cake once it has left our kitchen.
Are there any other charges?
There is a charge of £25 for hiring one of our cake stands for single wedding cakes and we ask for a refundable deposit of £40 to cover breakages. We will discuss any hire charges relating to wedding cakes requiring more than one stand at your consultation.
All cake stands must be returned to our kitchen within 7 days of your wedding. If any hired items have not been returned within 14 days of this date, we reserve the right to forfeit the refundable deposit. We do not collect cake stands unless previously agreed and this will be subject to a charge to cover our time and mileage to the venue.
Can I have real flowers on my cake?
Yes. We love working with real flowers and usually talk to your florist to ensure that the design matches your other floral arrangements. We always take the necessary precautions regarding food safety and hygiene. This includes properly binding/covering the stems of any flowers and the use of appropriate food-grade materials. But we cannot be responsible for the cake once it has been delivered. We will provide you with details of any non-edible items used in making your cake. You must inform the venue about these to ensure that all are properly removed before the cake is cut, particularly when flowers or foliage are actually inserted into the cake. If you have any questions about the using real flowers (or artificial alternatives) please ask us.
Can you cater for specific allergies or dietary requirements?
It is your responsibility to inform us of any specific requirements when you arrange your consultation. We are sometimes able to make cakes that are free of nuts, gluten or dairy but we cannot guarantee that these cakes will not contain traces of these ingredients. Therefore we recommend that anyone with severe allergies to these products does not eat our cakes. We accept no liability for customers suffering allergic reactions from eating our cakes.
When is the final payment due?
The remaining balance for your cake is due no later than one month before the wedding date. If this payment is not received by this date, we reserve the right to cancel your booking.
What happens if I have to cancel?
We will give you a full refund (apart from the deposit) if you cancel the booking not less than a month before the date of the event. If you cancel any later than this, any refund will be at our discretion because we might have already started work on your cake. This cancellation policy also applies to one-off celebration cakes. We advise that you take out wedding insurance to cover such eventualities.
Do you take photographs of my cake?
We reserve the right to take and use photographs of your cake for marketing and promotional purposes only, e.g., to put on our website or social media. If you are not happy for us to do this, please tell us at the time of making the booking.
Are there any circumstances when you might have to cancel?
We value every order and will always do our utmost to fulfill it whatever happens. But the reality is that there may be circumstances that are completely beyond our control which mean that we can’t. For example, there is always a risk (however small) that we cannot safely undertake delivery to your venue because of adverse weather conditions, or that we experience an unexpected illness or family emergency in the days before your wedding. If a problem does arise, we will give you as much warning as we possibly can in case this allows you to make alternative arrangements. We will also be fair and reasonable in terms of providing you with a refund, particularly if we have not already started work on your cake. However, it might be that we cannot provide a refund in some situations. We advise that you take out wedding insurance to cover such eventualities.
